Since its founding in 1989, the International Piano Duo Association has been dedicated to promoting the artistic value of piano duo performance and fostering its development and wider recognition.
A piano duo, in which two pianists create a single musical expression together, is a form of artistry that symbolizes collaboration and dialogue. Through the unique appeal of piano duo music, we connect learners, performers, and listeners alike, fostering a rich and inclusive cultural community.
Our mission is to pass on the full potential of piano duo genre to the next generation through a wide range of activities, including domestic and international concerts and competitions, educational programs for young artists, and research and information exchange.
Since 1990, the International Piano Duo Association has organized two competitions—Composition and Performance—through which it has explored new possibilities for piano duo music. This stage, where creativity and expression resonate, has launched the careers of many distinguished artists in Japan and around the world.
